SimpleDrive

Enhanced Security

What is enhanced security?

All SimpleDrive accounts are password protected for your security. SimpleDrive allows you to encrypt your data with AES-256 encryption – a government and industry standard that’s one of the most well-studied and most secure encryption algorithms available. Additionally, SimpleDrive uses a unique key for each file, and constructs the key using a HMAC file that helps protect against certain attacks. The master key is based on a password YOU choose, known only to you and not stored with SimpleDrive.

Two Levels Of Security

When you first setup SimpleDrive you'll have access to two initial drives. One with enhanced encryption and SSL and another with standard security and SSL. You can only share files from your unencrypted drives.

Standard: With standard security, your data is encrypted over the network using SSL (Secure Socket Layers) to protect the data while it is being transferred across the internet.

Enhanced: With enhanced security, your data is encrypted at all times using a personal, secret password only known to you. If you forget or lose your password you will not be able to recover your stored files. SimpleDrive DOES NOT have the ability to decrypt your files without your decryption key or have the means to obtain your decryption key.

Creating a password will encrypt your data using a random, 256-bit encryption key.

IF YOU FORGET OR LOSE THIS PASSWORD, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RETRIEVE YOUR FILES. It could be some time before you need to restore your data so it is very important to choose a password that you can remember. Write it down and keep in a safe location.
